Player of the Year in Argentina - An annual reward organized by the Argentine Sports Journalists' Circle. The prize is given to the best Argentine player or foreign footballer playing in the Argentine League. This award, called the Olimpia de Plata al Mejor Futbolista, is Argentina 's most important personal sports award. The first Argentine to play abroad and win a prize was Mario Kempes, and the first foreigner was Enzo Francescoli, a Uruguayan who played River Plate.
