Group History
Vocalist and guitarist John Bramwell ( John Bramwell ), drummer Andy Hagrevis ( Andy Hargreaves ) and bassist Pete Jobson ( Peter Jobson ) founded I Am Kloot in 1999 [5] . The musicians met at the Manchester club Night and Day (in which John Bramwell worked as a promoter); there their first concert took place. Guy Garvey , the local producer and leader of the Elbow group, became interested in the group, having released the first record of I Am Kloot in a small print run.
The first album, I Am Kloot Natural History, was released in March 2001 via the Wall of Sound label , recording artists such as Röyksopp and Les Rythmes Digitales . Elements of jazz and English folk in the music of I Am Kloot gave critics a reason to record the group as leaders of the so-called English “new acoustic movement”.
In 2003, Echo Records I Am Kloot released their second album, I Am Kloot . Critics put him on a par with The Verve 's Urban Hymns . The group took its place among the new generation of British rock: Supergrass , Doves , The Coral . The album was included in the lists of the best disks of 2003. I Am Kloot performed at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London, tickets for the performance were sold out long before the concert date. To support the second album, the group planned to release the single Proof , its design and video accompaniment were agreed with the label, but later the label refused to release the single, limiting itself only to the online version, which served to break the group’s relationship with Echo Records .
In 2005, I Am Kloot released their third album, Gods and Monsters , went on a European tour and took part in the main British music festival, Glastonbury , performing on the same stage with Tori Amos and Ani di Franco . In the same year, the group released a limited edition single Maybe I Should .
In 2006, a new song, Only Role in Town, was posted on the Internet for free download. This was followed by an album of recordings at the John Peel Session , made in 2001 and 2004 .
The fourth studio album, I Am Kloot Play Moolah Rouge , was released in a limited edition in November 2007, and appeared on sale April 14, 2008 . In October 2009, the group released a double album of bi-sides, rarities and previously unreleased songs. The compilation is called B.
The next studio album, Sky At Night , was released on July 5, 2010 via Shepherd Moon Records. The album was produced by Elbow members Craig Potter and Guy Garvey . The album received general approval and the greatest sales in the history of the group.
The sixth studio album, Let It All In , was released on January 21, 2013, following an online broadcast on The Guardian's website. In May 2013, the announcement of the big show at O2 Apollo Manchester appeared on the band’s official website. Fans were invited to leave requests for songs that they would like to hear at this concert.
I Am Kloot wrote the music for the television mini-series From There To Here , which was shown on the BBC One channel in May-June 2014.
