Biography

Aguilera began playing in Racing from Montevideo, then he moved to Nacional. In 1985, Aguilera went to Colombia. In 1986, he transferred to the Argentinean club "Racing" from Avellaneda, where he plays with his compatriot Ruben Paz , who became the club's idol. After Aguilera he left to play in Mexico, in the Tecos club, but a year later he returned to Uruguay to play for Peñarol, where Italian clubs noticed him.

In 1989, Aguilera transferred to Genoa, again playing in the same team with Ruben Paz and Jose Perdomo . They all came in one season. If his compatriots were more disappointed with Tiffozi “Genoa”, then Aguilera became a solid player of the main team, in the first season he played 31 matches, scoring 8 goals, in the second - 31 matches and 15 goals, in the third - 31 matches and 10 goals. He was one of the top Genoa scorers of all time in average performance: 0.34 goals per match. The highlight of Aguilera’s game in Genoa was the match in Liverpool on March 18, 1992 against the club of the same name , in which Genoa won, becoming the first Italian team to defeat Liverpool on its field, and Aguilera scored two goals in that game.

In 1992, Aguilera was sold to Torino, scoring 12 goals in 31 matches, winning the Italian Cup. The next season, he spent only 6 matches, without scoring goals and went back to Uruguay, to “Peñarol”, where he ended his career five years later.

Aguilera in Italy also fell into scandal. In 1996, he was sentenced to two years in prison for using the services of prostitutes and using drugs. But Aguilera did not appear at the trial and did not visit the territory of Italy. In 2007, he was pardoned.
