Biography

In 1984 he graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic . He worked as an engineer. In 1989, he founded the Chetver magazine, which since 1992 has been editing together with Yuri Andrukhovich .

Actively involved in artistic life in the late 1980s. He took part in many exhibitions and promotions, worked on the design of books and magazines, recorded music. At the same time, the first publications appeared - the cycle of short stories “The Last War” and the poetic cycle “Ten Poems about the Homeland”. Acquaintance with the writer Yuri Andrukhovich, as well as the unification of the young Ivano-Frankivsk authors around the Chetver magazine turned out to be an important factor in the formation of Izdryk as a writer. The result was a way out of the “counter-cultural underground” and the first publication in the Sochasnist magazine of the novel “Island of Krk”. The story was positively appreciated by critics and eventually appeared in the Polish translation in Literatura na Swiecie.

He also performs as an artist (a series of collective and personal exhibitions) and a composer (two concerts for piano, the musical composition “The Medieval Menagerie” to the verses of Yuri Andrukhovich) [2] .

The texts of Izdryk are published in Russian in the anthologies "Galitsky Stonehenge" (M., "ERA", 2003) and "Unknown Ukraine" (M., "Spare exit", 2005), the magazines "New World", "Herald of Europe", " Friendship of Peoples"
