Xuya Nanahara ( 七 原 秋 也 nanahara syu: I ) is student number 15, the protagonist of the Battle Royale novel and the Battle Royale 2 movie. Shuya is a Japanese student selected for the Government Program, according to which students are placed on a desert island and forced to kill each other until there is one winner. The author of the novel, Kosyun Takami, told in an interview: "He invented the rest [of the characters] along the way, but decided in advance what would happen to the main character." The author added that “other characters are simply involved in the same situation he was in.” [2] In the movie " Battle Royale, " the role of Shui is played by Tatsuya Fujiwara . [one]

Character
At first, Xu does not believe that his classmates will actually kill each other, and plans to unite the class to come up with some kind of plan and escape from the island. According to the author of the manga Masayuki Taguchi , “Sui’s central philosophy is very simple. "I describe Xu as a moral person who understands and feels the pain of others." [2] At the same time, he adds that "Xu is a stupid, receptive positive-predisposing hero who does not think ahead." [2] The reviewer of the site "Read" writes:
Xuya is a spontaneous rebel who finds a way out of his energy in rock music . But his rebellion does not become an ideological revolutionary impulse. Friendship, love, normal relations outside politics and other rubbish are most important for Nanahara. ” [3]
Xuya is one of the few characters who survived the Program, but, as the Time magazine reviewer observes, this is due to luck, not the killer instinct. [four]
Suya is very fond of rock music , especially Bruce Springsteen and his song Born to Run .
Past
Xuya, whose parents died in a car accident , grew up in a Catholic shelter for orphans, although he was never very religious. There he met Yoshitoki Kuninobu , who later became his best friend. At school, Xuya played baseball in the Junior League and for his success received the nickname “star scorer ” and “Wild Seven”, as the first character of his surname ( 七 ) denotes the number 7. It so happened that Xu fell in love with rock - forbidden, “decadent” "Music," and secretly played it on an electric guitar in a school music club. He fell in love with tall and slightly plump girl Kazumi Sintani ( 新 谷 和美 Sintani Kazumi ), who was the best saxophonist in the club and played rock beautifully. To impress her, Xu devoted all his free time to playing the guitar and soon became the best guitarist of the school club, and abandoned baseball. Among other things, he was pushed away by military discipline in the team. Baseball was considered a national sport, and if the team lost at the Olympic Games, the entire leadership of the baseball federation had to make seppuku .
