Mesa Verde National Park is a national park in southwestern Colorado . Area - 211 km² .

The park was created in 1906 to protect the numerous ruins of the settlements of the Anasazi Indians (the ancestors of modern pueblo ), created in the VI-XIII centuries.
The park got its name from the , which rises 600 meters above the surrounding area. The name of the plateau is translated from Spanish as "Green Table", as it is covered with coniferous forest: Pine edible ( Pinus edulis ) and Juniper hard seed ( Juniperus osteosperma ).
In 1978, the national park was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List .
More than 700 thousand tourists visit the park annually.
