Story
After the disappearance of Elexis Sinclair at the end of Sin , Wages of Sin continues the storyline, introducing a new villain Gianni Manero, a mafia boss who seeks power in the remnants of SinTEK, which previously belonged to Elexis. Manero produces new genetically engineered creatures ( mutants ) in secret laboratories, but when some of these mutants break out and enter the city, HARDCORPS (elite security forces) learn about them, namely the head of HARDCORPS, John Blade, as the main character and game character in Sin , in the role of which the gameplay occurs. Manero's search leads Blade to the new Freeport city locations that were not included in the original game, reveals new features of enemies and weapons, and has such interesting game elements as the abduction of the scientist’s daughter and day / night scenarios of the same levels, depending on the player’s choice .
Although Elexis Sinclair never appears in Wages of Sin , there are many references to her (in serious and humorous ways) throughout the game and at the end with a hint of her return (which happens in the official sequel to Sin , SiN Episodes ).
Gameplay
In addition to the mode of maintaining the level and design project levels of the real world in the style of the original game, Wages of Sin adds a few additional elements in addition to the standard modernization of weapons and enemies. Below is a list of the most distinctive features in Wages of Sin :
- 10 new enemies
- 7 types of weapons
- 17 new levels
- New items: a flashlight, night vision goggles, the ropes on which you can move in Half-Life style.
- Day and night alternatives for several cards, which are based on the player's set made at the beginning; These alternatives include such things as complexity and the choice of the time of day.
- Easter egg bonus: collecting bikini calendars will change the ending
- Hoverbike deathmatch : a new multiplayer mode gives you points when players go around the map on an armed hoverbikes
- 2 battles with final bosses at the end of the game
Technology
The graphics are very similar to Sin , since Wages of Sin is simply an add-on using the same technology as the original game on which it is based. However, much attention was paid to detail and interactivity when 2015 designed Wages of Sin , leading to even more options and opportunities than Sin could offer. In addition, the places visited by the main character on behalf of the player greatly expand the Freeport city data, which began in Sin , and because the Sin story about Freeport is only part of the story, the addition guarantees a whole adventure in the city and allows the player to visit such scenes as a cargo ship, a building under construction, a nightclub and casino Manero, as well as a penthouse complex.
Weapons and enemies look very exciting in the Wages of Sin , although the artificial intelligence of new opponents is average. Many special effects are impressive even today, such as a spider emerging from a mutant's body after being shot at it or a large explosion of ball lightning of an IP36 nuclear rocket launcher.
In the soundtrack there is a bit of new music, new sound effects and a completely new voice, sounding from the same actors who have voiced Sin , plus some new voices (like Manero) especially for this addition.
