Biography
Born in Chisinau in the large family of Zanvl Leibovich Kulish and Sura-Rivka Meerovna Zilberman. Until 1919 he worked as a projectionist , in 1919-1927 - editor and assistant operator at the VUFKU film studio in Odessa . He worked as an assistant to S. M. Eisenstein . From 1928 until the start of World War II - the operator of the Odessa film studio , subsequently - the operator of film studios in Ashgabat , Dushanbe , Almaty , Tashkent , Chisinau , Yerevan and other cities. In 1952-1953 - cameraman of the Lower Volga newsreel studio in Saratov , worked on film periodics and bespoke films. Since 1957 - cameraman, since 1967 - director of the Mosnauchfilm film studio.
Jacob Kulish was the operator of more than one hundred fiction, documentary and popular science films. Developed and implemented new methods of combined shooting. As a director, he directed the popular science films “Reproduction” (1971), “Pond Fish” (1977), “Infectious Diseases” and others.
