Career

Until 1975, Angola was a colony of Portugal and all talented players were intercepted by Portuguese teams. The young Angolan became interested in Sporting , where he moved, playing as an attacking midfielder and winger.

In 1958, Mendoza arrives in Spain to play for Atletico Madrid . He makes his debut in Example on September 14, 1958 in a match against Oviedo and immediately scores a goal, making the final score 2-0. In 1960, Mendoza won the King's Cup, which became the first Spanish Cup for Atlético, and the next year repeated its success.

In the 1961/62 season, Atletico won the Cup of Cups , the first European trophy of Madrid, in the final against Miodeza Fiorentina scored one of the goals. The next year, Atletico again in the finals, but the club was a 5-1 Tottenham club. In 1965, Atlético won another Spanish Cup , and the following year celebrated their victory in the national championship .

For 9 seasons at Atletico Mendoza won the Spanish Championship, 3 Spanish Cups, Cup of Cups, 3 times silver medals of the Spanish Championship and one final of the Cup of Cups. Mendoza went down in the history of Atlético as a man who put an end to Madrid’s best win-win series in history on his field (2,940 days - 121 games): on March 7, 1965, Mendoza scored a goal that brought the victory to Atlético.

In 1967, Mendoza moved to Barcelona . In the first season, he wins the King's Cup and the silver medal of the championship. In 1969, Mendoza, who played only 7 matches in the last Spanish championship, goes to Mallorca . But the club fails, having flown to the second division.
