First Temple
The Church of the Presentation of the Lord on the Vyborg side was in Polyustrov , on Alexandrovskaya street [1] .
The wooden one-throne church was built at the expense of the merchant A. A. Dorogin according to the project of the architect V. I. Karpov and consecrated by Metropolitan Isidor (Nikolsky) on June 29 ( July 11 ), 1887 [2] .
Soon the church was expanded by the northern aisle in the name of the newly-glorified St. Theodosius of Chernigov .
In the same year, on the corner of Alexandrovskaya and Varvarinskaya streets, a wooden chapel was built of the icon of the Mother of God “All Who Sorrow of Joy”.
As of 1899, the church parish consisted of 46 houses (1169 men, 1328 women) [3] . The parish contained two schools.
The church was closed on February 11, 1933 at the request of the factory committee of the “ Metal Plant named after Stalin ”and transferred to the air defense services. Currently, on the site of the temple are educational buildings with a garden.
Modern Church
The temple was laid on March 5, 2000 on the site of a wooden chapel, dismantled during the blockade of Leningrad for firewood.
The church was built according to the project of the architect G. K. Chelbogashev , who continued the project of the architect G. A. Vasiliev († 1998) [4] [5] . The project was awarded with diplomas at architectural festivals and contests: at the Russian festival Architecture 98 and the 6th International Competition, with a gold diploma at Architecton 2003, bronze at Architecton 2008 and Architecture 2008 " [6] [7] [8] .
The construction of the temple was on donations, so it was somewhat delayed. The parish church house took an active part in the building of the neighboring shopping center ( 5 Ushinsky St. ). This parish moved to a newly built church.
In 2006, the temple was crowned with a bronze gilded cross, which was consecrated by Metropolitan Vladimir . Construction and installation works were mostly completed by the end of 2008, the first service was held on the feast of the Nativity of Christ in 2009. On November 13, 2016, Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Barsanuphius consecrated the church.
Divine services: the liturgy is regularly held on Saturday and Sunday at 10.00, the all-night vigil on Saturday at 16.00. Regarding services in the week, you need to clarify the schedule.
Architecture
The temple was built in neo-Byzantine style. According to the plan - tetra conch .
The vaults are made of metal structures with wood paneling, which makes it possible, if necessary, to paint them from the inside.
Upcoming interior decoration and landscaping
The height of the church is 37 meters, the area is 500 square meters
