Club career

Theo Brockmann began his football career at the Steds Warwarts amateur club. In 1912, at the age of 20, Theo got into the Ajax Amsterdam . His debut took place only a year later, on October 19, 1913 in the mast against the club of the DFK, in which Ajax won with a score of 6: 1.

Over 11 seasons, Theo spent 175 matches and scored 78 goals, Brockmann twice became the champion of the Netherlands in 1918 and 1919 , and in 1917 Theo won the Netherlands Cup .

Theo spent his last match on February 22, 1925 against the DFC, in the same year Brockmann ended his football career. Five years later, Theo returned to Ajax and worked as a club bus driver, and later from 1930 to 1950 he worked as a club commissioner.

Team Career

In the Netherlands national team, Theo made his debut on June 9, 1919 in a friendly match against Sweden . In that match for the national team, two more Ajax players made their debut, Wim Gupfert and Henk Hordeik . In his debut match, like Gupfert, Theo scored one goal, and his team won with a score of 3: 1. [2] Theo had only one match for the national team.

Personal life

Theo was born in September 1893 in Amsterdam [3] . Father - Johan Frederick Brockmann, mother - Aleida Petronella Christina Canter, both parents were from Amsterdam [3] . In addition to him, the family had ten more children: six daughters and four sons [4] . Parents got married in August 1878 - at the time of his marriage, Johan Frederic was a warehouse worker [5] .

He married at the age of twenty-seven - his wife was 27-year-old Johanna Katarina van Dyck, a native of Amsterdam. Their marriage was registered on May 12, 1921 in Amsterdam [6] . In July 1922, they had a son named , and in May 1925 a second boy appeared - Adrianus Johannes. Theo’s eldest son followed in his father's footsteps - played for Ajax as a striker for 12 years, making his debut in November 1939 [7] . The youngest son, Andre, aged 9, participated in the opening ceremony of the De Mer stadium [8] , and later worked at the AFC club. In January 1954, Brockmann's wife died at the age of 61 [9] .

He died on August 28, 1956 [3] in Amsterdam at the age of 62 after a short illness. He was buried on September 1 next to his wife in the city cemetery of [10] .
