Add-on Features

Each add-on is installed with the original game of the latest version. Disciples II: Gallean's Return adds to the game one new campaign for each race, three missions in each. Accordingly, Disciples II: Servants of the Dark adds campaigns for the undead and demons, and Disciples II: Guardians of the Light adds to the people and gnomes. The action takes place on Nevendaar . The storyline of "Gallean Returns" directly continues the plot of the original game.

Features added to the game include a quick debriefing, several unique units, and four new music themes. AI opponents are slightly improved (for example, an adversary can cast spells on him when a hostile hero appears in his field of vision, can cast spells on his heroes before attacking a strong opponent), and the rest of the gameplay is almost completely similar to that in the original game . Now you can change the resolution of the game from 800 × 600 to 1024 × 768 or 1280 × 1024. With add-ons, a built-in script editor, a random map generator and 16 additional scripts are supplied.

Disciples II: Servants of the Dark

Disciples II: Servants of the Dark , or Disciples II: Guard of Darkness , Disciples II: Servants of Darkness - an addition that adds two campaigns: for the Undead Hordes and the Legions of the Damned.

Story

Undead Hordes

Gallean , the resurrected Mortis, was horrified by her new appearance - the goddess of death - rejected his ex-wife and disappeared. The offended goddess decided to avenge the betrayal, having dealt with the people of her husband - the elves, and with the wrong hands. Mortis decided to trick the Mountain Clans into attacking the elves, and one of her servants, the Spirit of Prushin, assumed the form of a ghost wolf. He gained the trust of the Dwarves by killing the vampire Virimos, and ordered them to open, with the help of runes, the gates to the kingdom of the gods - supposedly in order to honor Wotan, the god of the gnomes.

Meanwhile, Mortis learned of Lakla'an, an avatar of Gallean, revered by the elves as the messiah and the prophet, who appeared among the elves. Gallean's messenger could be a danger to her plans, and she decided to kill him. In the process of searching, the undead encountered a strange phenomenon - a whirlpool , where the imperative voice of the Grave Golem called. Thief Nith, who did not voluntarily serve Mortis and dreamed of death, with her consent gave his life to the Golem.

The difficult search for Lacla'an ended in success, but the undead army was a little late - the demons killed and torn the prophet apart. Mortis ordered the collection of the remains of the elven messiah and the resurrection of Lacla'an. Lacla'an, who has risen from the dead, now the dark elf, the son of Gallean and Mortis , went out to meet the elven warriors who arrived in the capital of the Ord to demand the surrender of the body of his prophet, and killed most of them, taunting former relatives.

In order to direct the magical power of the dwarves in the right direction Mortis, it was necessary to kill the guardians of knowledge and hermits at the three Druid Rings. The hordes did this, and Lacla'an went to the center circle of the Druids to summon Gallean. The prophet Mortis called the god of the elves who came to the call a weak and forgotten god. Gallean, having experienced rage and hatred, unusual for his bright nature, embodied his anger in a monstrous Beast, which Mortis sought. Hordes killed the Beast, but cadaveric poison poisoned nearby lands, causing the death of many elves.

Then Gallean cried, and his tears washed Nevendaar in the rain for weeks. A cruel lesson was taught to the elf god - he learned that he himself can be as terrible as his loyal wife. Mortis’s revenge has come true.

Legions of the Damned

Having failed with the incarnation of Betresen , the demons decide to change tactics: instead of freeing their creator from the underworld, turning the whole Nevendaar into hell. But to realize this plan, they need a powerful source of magical energy. Demons capture the three elven cities, despite the resistance of the elves and the greenskins subordinate to them, and, having searched the libraries, they find out where such a source is located - this is a magic well in the elves' possessions, between the three ancient elven cities.

But the elves are helped by the forces of the Empire (more precisely, Baron Emry of Abrissel, the main contender for the throne of the Empire), and the Legions weakened by the feud caused by Uther's betrayal (see Disciples II: Dark Prophecy ) should be afraid of a strong alliance of these races: against combined forces humans and elves cannot resist demons. The legions decide to kill the elven spiritual leader, an avatar of Gallean named Lacla'an, venerated by the elves as the messiah and prophet ; demons rightly believe that the death of Lacla'an may cause disagreement between humans and elves. Hoping for the help of the troops of Count Crowley, a religious fanatic who not only takes Betresen's demons for angels, but also mortally hates elves, considering them pagans, the demons find Lacla'an. But at the meeting place with Crowley's servants, they find the people of Emry, who by then had cracked down on Crowley's traitors. Demons understand that they will have to do everything themselves. They find and kill Lacla'an. Murder - supposedly with the help of Crowley's servants - is blamed on Emry Abrisselsky. Angry elves break the alliance with the Empire.

After the murder of Lacla'an, the demons no longer interfere with the attack of the source. The valiant resistance, led by Princess Drulia'an, the daughter and heiress of Queen Taladriel, is unable to restrain the onslaught of the Legions. Having gained access to the magic well, the demons arrange their terrible ritual. The demonic plague of Betrezen begins to spread across Nevendaar.

Disciples II: Guardians of the Light

Disciples II: Guardians of the Light , or Disciples II: Guard of the Light , Disciples II: Keepers of the Light - an addition that adds two campaigns: for the Empire and for the Mountain Clans.

Story

Empire

After the death of Demosthenes and the betrayal of Uther in the Empire, three pretenders to the throne declare themselves: Baron Emry of Abrissel, paladin , commander who led the resistance to demons ; the head of the secret service of the Empire, the Duchess Ambriel of Verzillina and the head of the Inquisition, Count Flamel Crowley. An embassy of the elves arrives at Emry, led by the Oracle maiden Millu, asking them to protect their people from the undead. The servants of Crowley, learning about Emry’s contacts with the “pagans,” accuse the Baron of apostasy , but he still decides to help the elves. Ambriel, for his part, sends a messenger to Emry with an offer to support her in the fight for the throne, but the baron, not wanting to give in, invites her to a banquet to discuss the details. Admired by the mind and beauty of Ambriel, he offers an alliance, but the Duchess does not yet give a clear answer. Emry's troops, who came to the aid of the elves, find them plague-struck and insane.

The forces of the Empire liberate the three cities of the elves, but they are no longer able to save their inhabitants. However, the elves are grateful to humans, and invite Emry to meet their messiah , Lacla'an. However, he doesn’t get to the meeting: Lacla'an is killed, and Flamel Crowley misinforms the elves, as if the people of Emry did it. Dwarves also do not accept ambassadors from the baron. Emry opposes Crowley.

Emry’s troops meet on their way a dark elf with the name of the elven messiah - Lacla'an. He contemptuously talking to people, hiding. From Ambrieli to Emry, messengers sometimes come, telling him various useful information. So Emry finally finds out that Crowley actually does not worship the Supreme Father, but Betresen, and it is not the angels who help him, but the demons. Emry’s troops kill Crowley, who before death realized that the demons had tricked him. But the elves still believe that Emry is to blame for the death of their prophet, and the Dwarves also do not want peace with humans.

To Baron Abrisselsky, information reaches that the Legions of the Damned were activated near the lands of Vercyllin, and a demonic plague spreads over these lands. Emry leads the troops to the Duchess of Ambriel and invites her to join forces, sharing power between them. She agrees. Together, they stop the plague, killing Nebiros - a monster fed by Betresen's blood. The lands are cleansed of filth, and the elven princess Illumiel, who has been under the protection of Ambriel all this time, thanks people and goes to her people. During the celebration of victory, negotiations begin on the marriage of Emry of Abrissel and Lady Ambriel.

Mountain Clans

The Mountain Clans, having defeated Nidhogg and prevented Ragnarok , restore broken connections between clans. Queen Yata'Hally decides to convene the Order of the Keepers of Knowledge to create a single body of knowledge and preserve them in order to avoid new disasters.

The Queen's envoys meet on their way the vampire Virimos, who threatens them, but suddenly the Wolf appears, introducing himself as a servant of Wotan and killing Virimos. Then the Wolf hands the dwarves a scroll, explaining that Wotan's will is set out there, and disappears.

The returning messengers bring disappointing news: The Thunderhammer and Blackstone clan custodians were killed, and the fortress Ironhill, the knowledge keeper, who sealed Betrezen in an underground dungeon with a rune seal, died during an earthquake . He was replaced by the guardian of the knowledge of the Sevendask clan, who was least affected by the latest disasters . It could take years for the training of the new guardians, and so the dwarves decided to contact the guardian Greenflint, who left the order in protest even during the First Great War . Greenflint decides to seek help from other hermits like him - Grimpick and Hillrast.

Together with the remaining custodians of knowledge, there were twelve of them - as many as needed for the ritual that Wotan allegedly longs for. But the ceremony of the ritual is suddenly interrupted by the appearance of the dark elf Lacla'an with an army of undead. Wotan's message was a hoax: Mortis used the ceremony to take revenge on Gallean, who rejected her, at the same time striking the dwarves. Many converts of knowledge keepers perish. Wanting to avenge deception and sacrilege, the dwarves go to war on the capital of the undead; the queen herself personally leads the troops. Elves who, in search of the missing Lacla'an, approached the Clan capital, learn from the Dwarves that Mortis turned their prophet into a dark elf.

Dwarves make an alliance with the elves and storm the city together, having previously destroyed the Grave Golem - a monster blocking the approaches to the capital, collected from the bodies of the countless victims of the Mortis servants. After the victory, the queen decides that it is time for the Mountain Clans to participate more actively in the fate of Nevendaar and sends messengers to people and elves to strengthen diplomatic relations.

Additional Scenarios

The game comes with several additional scenarios that describe the events between the First Great War and the main plot of the game.
