The early years
At the end of the 1960s, as students of the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute (TTHI), Sergey Avanesov and his friend Bakhodyr Juraev decided to create a vocal and instrumental ensemble (VIA) in the wake of Beatlemania. Soon they were joined by Shahboz Nizamutdinov and Dmitry Tsirin, Ali-Askar Fathullin was invited to the keyboards. In this composition, the ensemble under the direction of German Rozhkov - the head of the TTXI training theater - and the young composer Evgeny Shiryaev was called “VIA TTXI”.
In 1969, after winning the republican competition, the brothers Farrukh and Ravshan Zakirov came to the ensemble. From this, according to Sergei Avanesov, the collective known as VIA Yalla began. The name for the ensemble was invented by the teacher of the TTHI - film director Anatoly Kabulov [1] .
1970-1978
VIA "Yalla" was formed in 1970 from an amateur ensemble at the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute . The first artistic director was German Rozhkov, who began to oversee the ensemble, being the director of the educational theater at the institute. The name of the collective, although similar to the name of one of the styles of Uzbek folk music, appeared at one of the rehearsals from the words of the refrain of the song “Kiz Bola” - “Mischievous Girl”. The arrangement of this Uzbek folk song was the first success of the ensemble; in January 1971, VIA Yalla successfully performed with her and Mark Fradkin ’s song “To that big, to the intersection” at the regional qualifying round of the All-Union competition “Hello, we are looking for talents!” in Sverdlovsk and reached the final of the competition in Moscow , where, performing the Uzbek folk song “Ramadan” and the Russian folk song “White fogs are floating” (soloed by Ravshan Zakirov, the younger brother of Batyr Zakirov , one of the ideological inspirers of the young team, and Farrukh Zakirov , with whose name in recent years VIA Yalla has actually been associated) , participants ans mblya became students of this prestigious competition for novice performers, permanent host who was Alexander Maslyakov . The songs “Keyz Bola” and “Yallama Yorim” performed by the ensemble were recorded at the All-Union company of melodic records.
One of the foundations for the success of Yalla was: the use, along with electric guitars and an electric organ, of Uzbek folk instruments - rubaba , doira , etc., of oriental song motifs in modern (1970s) processing. The ensemble's repertoire consisted mainly of songs in the Uzbek language, and songs in Russian and English were also performed.
The compositions of the Yalla ensemble, created based on folk Uzbek songs, gained fame. The collective and its leader Farrukh Zakirov developed their approach to the intonational-rhythmic beginning of Uzbek folklore and created such famous songs as “Majnuntol” (“Weeping Willow”), “Boycechak” (“Snowdrop”), “Yallama Yorim” and others. During this period, musicians often turn to the work of the poet Turab Tula and write songs on his poems [2] .
According to Farrukh Zakirov , who joined the ensemble in 1972, Evgeny Shiryaev , the first music director of Yalla, a composer who wrote music for many famous films: “Birds of Our Hopes,” “ What are Our Years ,” made a great contribution to creating the repertoire and the image of the group. ! " Elyora Ishmuhamedova ," The Bride from Vuadil "by Ali Khamraev , in which the song" Remember Me "was performed by the thirteen-year-old niece of Farrukh Zakirov Nargiz . For several years, the ensemble has successfully performed in the Tashkent music hall and toured the Soviet Union. In 1973, VIA Yalla took part in the Xth World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin ( GDR ), where Amiga recorded fifteen songs in German, half of which, according to Farrukh Zakirov, were in the top ten national hit Parade of the GDR. In the USSR, their songs were also periodically recorded by Melody both on vinyl records and on flexible inserts of the Krugozor magazine. To the folk songs and songs of modern authors, songs of their own composition to the verses of the great poets of the East - Alisher Navoi , Omar Khayyam began to be added to the repertoire. But by the end of the 1970s, the team began to decline creatively.
C 1979
Of the old composition (1972), only Farrukh Zakirov , the artistic director of the VIA, vocalist and composer, remained. In 1979, new musicians came to the ensemble, who still play in it, with the exception of music director and bass player Rustam Ilyasov, who, after 15 years of creative activity at Yalla, broke up with the band in 1994 and moved permanently in the USA. In 1980, the ensemble expected new creative success - the song “Three Wells” composed by F. Zakirov on verses by Yu. Entin, published on the sound page of the club and amateur performances magazine No. 2 for 1982 as “Uchkuduk” (“Melody”, FD , G92-09061), has become a super-hit in the USSR (and to this day is the “visiting card” of the ensemble). In 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, and 1988, the State Honored Ensemble of the Uzbek SSR Yala was a diploma winner (finalist) of the annual Song of the Year television festivals held in the Soviet Union. In 1981, the band released its first album (a giant vinyl disc) - Three Wells.
Over the years, songs performed by the ensemble become popular: “The Last Poem”, “ Shakhrisabz ”, “Tightrope Walker” or “Baka, Baka Bang”, “Song of Nasreddin ”, “The Face of My Beloved”, “The Road Called Me”, “The Teahouse ”, "Blue domes of Samarkand ." Several albums were recorded, colorful theatrical performances were shown: “Let's create a holiday, friends”, “The face of my beloved” and “The teahouse for all time”. In 2000, Farrukh Zakirov was appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, but despite this, he remains at Yalla, and the ensemble continues its concert activities and studio recordings. As deputy minister, Farrukh Zakirov is involved in charity work, financing the treatment of sick children and elderly people, and participating in charity concerts. September 30, 2002 in the concert hall "Russia" in Moscow was a gala anniversary concert of the ensemble. In the same year, the members of the first ensemble formed the Retro Yalla group with a repertoire of the early 1970s. She also successfully performed in various concerts and shows, including the Yalli anniversary concert. As Aliaskar Fathullin said in an interview, “Retro Yalla” plans to record a disc with the first songs of the ensemble. In 2004, Farrukh Zakirov was appointed the acting Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan. After the summit of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tashkent, Azizkhodjaev was approved as the Minister of Culture. Farrukh Zakirov frees up his chair and returns to his creative "element", continues to engage in charity work. The Yalla ensemble was an honored guest at all events in diplomatic corps, public organizations and representative offices accredited in Tashkent.
In 2005, VIA Yalla celebrated its 35th anniversary with a series of gala concerts. On New Year's Eve 2007, the ensemble, together with other stars of the 1970–80s, took part in the concert show “Legends of Retro-FM”, broadcast on the First channel of Russian television. From the press:

Interesting Facts
- The song "Three Wells" / "Uchkuduk" was written on a tour in the city of Uchkuduk . The poet Y. Entin, the former head of VIA, wrote poetry, and Farrukh Zakirov in 40 minutes of music. On the same day, the song was performed at a concert. At that time, Uchkuduk was a closed city and was not marked on the maps of the USSR. According to Yu. Entin and F. Zakirov, the city appeared on the maps of the country only thanks to their song, which became the main hit of “Yalla”, but which the KGB of the Uzbek SSR forbade to perform and record [3] .
- Visiting concerts abroad, Yalla performs at least one song in the language of the country in which they tour. So it was in Vietnam , in Turkey , Israel , Switzerland , Azerbaijan , Sri Lanka and African countries.
- The head of VIA "Yalla" Farrukh Zakirov has the title of People's Artist of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Turkmenistan , Tajikistan , Bashkiria [4] [5] .
