History

The company was founded by Johann Wilhelm Buderus in 1731 under the German city of Laubach. Initially, the company produced cast iron for further processing and cast iron elements for furnaces and hearths.

In 1884, the Buderus'sche Eisenwerke family joint-stock company (Buderus Steel Works) was established.

In 1891, the joint-stock company sold the Hirzenhain plant in Vogelsberg and the Mine-Weser metallurgical plant in Lollar. The new owner of Hirzenhain becomes Hugo Buderus. Later, he created the joint-stock company Hirzenhain and Lollar Metallurgical Plants, which included the first plant in Laubach. The main direction of enterprises is the production of heating and kitchen stoves.

In 1898, the construction of sectional heating boilers was carried out in the factories of Hugo Buderus. A patent was received for the invention, which entered into force on April 22, 1898. On December 8 of the same year, the plant received another patent for cast-iron sectional boilers.

In 1905, the Buderus Metallurgical Plants bought back the Mine-Weser plant in Lollar and in 1911 founded the sales company Buderus'sche Handelsgesellschaft mbH (Trading Society of Buderus mbX), whose residence is located in Wetzlar. From this moment on, branches and sales offices of the company are distributed throughout Germany and the neighboring countries.

Since 1987, a new company structure has been launched to create subsidiaries, the largest of which is Buderus Heiztechnik GmbH (Buderus Heating Technology GBmX).

In 2003, Buderus sells a controlling stake in Robert Bosch GmbH (Robert Bosch GmbH) and is part of their group. As a result of the merger, a new company Bosch-Buderus Thermotechnik GmbH was formed in 2004 (from January 1, 2008 Bosch Thermotechnik GmbH), which united the brands Buderus, Bosch Thermotechnik, Junkers, Dakon, Geminox and others. The headquarters of the company is located in Wetzlar.

Currently, Bosch Thermotechnik GmbH is one of the largest manufacturers and sellers of heating equipment in Europe. Due to the merger of the two companies, products under the Bosch and Buderus brands are produced in more than 20 countries in Europe, the USA and Asia.

In 2012, the brand received the Red Dot Award for Design. In 2014, the Plus X Award in the heating and air conditioning category. Logalux PNRZ Buck received the Best Product of the Year 2014 Award.
