Song Reviews

The track “I'm Eighteen” was a real revelation. No one in rock has ever spoken to a teenager about pain and loneliness, about growing up and turning into another creature - in the teenage language. Alice was the first. And teenagers all over the world heard him. Heard and understood: Alice also understands them. Because he is as confused and lost as they are. He is one of them. - Jeffrey Morgan. [2]

  • “Vincent Fournier’s youthful anthem was My Generation . For the whole new generation, I'm Eighteen has become such a hymn. ” - Steve Demorest, author of Cooper's biography.
  • “I'm Eighteen became the prototype of Smells Like Teen Spirit - for the post-hippie generation.” - Gary Graf, Detroit journalist.
  • “I'm Eighteen turned Alice Cooper from a group that kills chickens to a group that kills whole stadiums.” - The Village Voice. [2]
