Neutropenia is a subtype of leukopenia and is associated with a decrease in the number of circulating neutrophilic granulocytes , the most numerous white blood cells.

Content

Causes of Leukopenia

  • bone marrow aplasia and hypoplasia
  • damage to the bone marrow by chemical means (myelotoxic effects - benzene , aniline , etc.), drugs
  • ionizing radiation (increase in radioactive background, radiation sickness)
  • deficiency of certain substances (vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin B1, iron, copper, etc.) [3]
  • hypersplenism (primary, secondary)
  • acute leukemia
  • myelofibrosis
  • myelodysplastic syndromes
  • plasmacytoma
  • bone marrow metastases
  • pernicious anemia or Addison-Birmer disease
  • sepsis
  • typhoid and paratyphoid
  • anaphylactic shock
  • collagenoses
  • Carriage of herpes viruses of types 6 and 7
  • the result of the action of drugs ( sulfonamides and some antibiotics , NSAIDs , thyreostatics, cytostatics, antiepileptic drugs, antispasmodic oral drugs).

Symptoms

Gradual weakening of the body, fever, chills, rapid pulse, anxiety, headaches, exhaustion of the whole body, pneumonia and blood infection, which can cause mild shock. As a result, infections are booming. If the decrease in white blood cell count is due to a reaction to certain drugs, the symptoms increase rapidly.

A low white blood cell count is characterized by swollen glands, an enlarged spleen, an enlargement of the tonsils, as well as symptoms of associated diseases. [four]

Treatment

For treatment, the following drugs are used:

  • Batilol (Batilolum)
  • Leucogen (Leucogenum)
  • Methyluracil (Methyluracilum)
  • Sodium nucleinas (Natrii nucleinas)
  • Sodium Nucleospermate (SPC Pharmzashchita)
  • Chlorophyllin Sodium (Sodium Chlorophyllin SPbGLTA)
  • Pentoxyl (Pentoxylum)
  • Pyridoxine (Pyridoxinum)
  • Etadenum
