Tarija , the full name of San Bernardo de la Frontera de Tarija ( Spanish: Tarija, San Bernardo de la Frontera de Tarija ) is a large city in the south of Bolivia . The city was founded in 1574, the population is 170,900 people (official census in 2006). Tarija is the capital and largest city of the Tarija department. An airport (TJA) is located within the city.
