History

In 1931, the Government of the USSR decided to build the Moscow-Volga Canal . In the same year, the People's Commissar of the USSR was formed and the Moscow-Oksk Basin Administration was created.

Given the difficult situation with the technical staff of the Moscow-Oka basin, on 22 / VII / 1932, at a meeting of the secretariat of the MK VKP (b), it was decided to organize a special technical school in 1932 by the People’s Commissariat.

On August 1, 1932, the educated Moscow River College (MRI) set to work. Classes began to be held in the building of the school FZU "Red Vodnik" on Ordynka, 19 .

In October 1932, the People's Commissar of the USSR decided to transfer FZU with all the property and equipment to the Moscow port. Since November 1934, in accordance with the decision of the Government Commission and the People’s Commissar of the USSR, the MRI has completely moved to Bolshaya Ordynka .

The technical school continued to work and graduate students during the Great Patriotic War . Four Heroes of the Soviet Union came out of the walls of the building on Bolshaya Ordynka .

On the certificates and certificates of graduates there was an MRI stamp with the address, phone number and subordination to the People’s Commissariat of Water, from 1939 to the People’s Commissariat of the USSR, in the 50s to the Ministry of the Sea and River Fleet, the River Fleet of the USSR and from 1957 to the River Fleet of the RSFSR .

In the 30s, an evening and correspondence department was created under MRI. Since 1949, the All-Union Extramural College of River Transport (VZTRT) was established.

Created in the 30s, evening and correspondence departments, training and consulting centers (UKP), in the 50s became the correspondence faculty of the Leningrad Institute of Water Transport (LIVT). UKP were located in various premises and buildings of Moscow - on Petrovka and Myasnitskaya Streets, in Stoleshnikov Lane and on Bolshaya Ordynka.

In 1966, the correspondence faculty of LIVT became the Moscow branch (MoF LIVT) and is located on Bolshaya Ordynka, 19 .

Moscow Institute of Water Transport Engineers (MIIVT)

The development of river transport in the central region of the country leads to the need for extensive training of crew personnel for the fleet, and in 1977 a new complex of buildings was put into operation at 46 Sudostroitelnaya , Sudostroitelnaya , with a separate laboratory building, in which an experimental pool for radio-controlled models and training pool for cadets. From now on, the Moscow River College begins recruiting full-time training for skippers, ship engineers and ship radio-electricians. The technical school is headed by a veteran of the water transport industry V. S. Udachin.

In 1979, due to the increased needs of the Moscow-Oka basin for maintenance engineers, managers and other industry experts, the Moscow Institute of Water Transport Engineers (MIIVT) was established on the basis of the Moscow branch of the Leningrad Institute of Water Transport [1] . The initiator of the creation of a separate institute in Moscow was prof. N.P. Garanin, who became his first rector, with the active support of the Minister of the River Fleet of the RSFSR L.V. Bagrova.

The newly created institute is handed over to the building of the former dormitory of the MSSZ at ul. Rechnikov , d.16, where redevelopment is carried out and it is re-equipped for training classes.

In the early 80s, there was a rapid increase in IWT transportation throughout the country. In order to meet the region’s growing needs for workers for the fleet and for MSSZ, the Moscow River School - Secondary Vocational School (SPTU) No. 202 was commissioned in 1983. It is located next to the technical school, at 44 Sudostroitelnaya, heading it. industry veteran V.V. Makeev.

In 1989, the Moscow Institute of Water Transport (MIVT) was created on the basis of the Moscow Institute of Water Transport Engineers, the Moscow River College and SPTU No. 202 [2] . The main idea of the educational complex is a continuous three-level professional education (primary, secondary and higher) with a total learning period of 7-8 years.

In 1993, the Moscow Institute of Water Transport was renamed the Moscow State Academy of Water Transport [3] .

In 2003, the Academy received a new building located on the embankment of the Moscow River at Novodanilovskaya Embankment. 2/1, from this moment it becomes the hallmark of the Academy.

Since 2006, the Academy has included three branches (based on former river schools) from different regions of Russia - Bashkiria (Ufa branch), Vologda region (Veliko-Ustyug branch) and Yaroslavl region (Rybinsk branch).

In 2016, the Academy was reorganized by joining Admiral S. O. Makarov [4] to the State University of the Sea and River Fleet .
