The Bumblebee man never takes off his costume; the only exception is the episode " 22 Short Films About Springfield ", which shows a small sketch of his life. In this sketch, we see that its clumsiness is an absolutely innate property, and by no means an imitation. In the end, his house falls apart, and his wife leaves, no longer wanting to endure his character. In this episode, we also see that he has a chihuahua - a Mexican breed dog.
In Bart Gets Famous , he speaks with a clearly British accent, but in the commentary on the episode it was identified as a mistake. Usually, Bumblebee Man pronounces only simple and popular Spanish sentences, and even then in broken Spanish. Here are some of his catchphrases: “Ay, ay, ay, no me gusta!” (“I don't like it!”), “Ay, ay, ay, ay, no es bueno!” (“It's not good!”) and “¡Ay, Dios no me ama!” (“God does not love me!”). Quite often, his phrases are pronounced in false Spanish. There are several such examples in the episode "22 Short Films About Springfield ": a woodpecker in Spanish is not "wudpequero" (amended English woodpecker), but "pájaro carpintero". Such a false Spanish was used to make English-speaking viewers understand everything.
A bumblebee man is a caricature of the main character of the Mexican television series , whose image was created and embodied by Mexican television comedian , known as Chespirito, and his show, consisting of silly jokes, often elevated to a degree of vibrant buffoonery . The creators of the image of the Bumblebee Man said that whenever they watched Univision (an American Spanish-language TV channel), such a type was always present there, and therefore they created a Bumblebee Man, who seemed to constantly fly in the air, like the corresponding type in the Hispanic TV channel [1] .
The clothes of the Bumblebee Man are based on the costume used in the sketch “Killer Bees” from the humorous television program “ Saturday Night Live ” [2] .
In 2003, Hank Azaria received the Prime Time Emmy Award in the nomination for sounding the Bumblebee Man and some other characters [3] .
