Androscoggin County is a county in Maine . At the census in 2000, there were 103,793 people; by 2009, according to estimates by the US Census Bureau, the population is 106,539. [1] The administrative center of the district is Auburn , the largest city is Lewiston .

Geography
Androskoggin is located in the southeastern part of the state, has no access to the sea or ocean, and does not border other states. According to the United States Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 1288 km², of which 1218 km² is land and 70 km² (5.42%) is water.

According to the census in 2000 [1] , 103,793 people lived in the okrug, there were 42,028 households and 27,119 families. The population density was 85 people per km². The number of residential buildings was 45,960 with an average density of 38 per km². The division into races was: 96.98% White, 0.66% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.55% Asian, 0.04% Oceanian, 0.28% other race, and 1.22% mixed from two or more races. 0.95% of the population are Latino. 24.5% of the inhabitants are of French-Canadian origin, 19.4% are French , and 14.3% are English . Only 14.29% use French as their first language.
Out of 42,028 households, 30.9% had children under the age of 18, 49.6% were married and lived together, 10.8% had a woman without a husband as the head of the household, and 35.3% were not related. 28.3% of households consisted of one person and 11% consisted of one person aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.38 people; the average family size was 2.91 people.
The construction by age was: 23.9% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24 years old, 29.7% from 25 to 44 years old, 22.9% from 45 to 64, 14.4% 65 years or older . The average age was 37 years. For every 100 females there are 94.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.2 males.
The average household income was $ 35,793 a year, the average household income was $ 44,082. Men had an average income of $ 31,622, women $ 22,366. The average annual per capita income of the city was $ 18,734. About 7.5% of families and 11.1 % of the population were below the poverty line , of which 13.8% were under the age of 18 years and 11% were 65 years of age or older.
