Biography

Miles attended high school in East St. Louis , Illinois , and in 2000 was recognized as the best basketball player of the state among schoolchildren. In the same year, he could not score the required passing score to enter the University of St. John in New York , so immediately after graduation he began his career as a professional basketball player. In the 2000 NBA draft , he was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers Club under number 3. After the first season, Darius entered the symbolic rookie team. Two seasons in Los Angeles, Miles went to the site off the bench, gaining an average of 9.4 points and making 5.7 rebounds.

In 2002, Miles moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers , where he became a player in the starting five, but in terms of performance compared to the Clippers, he did not progress. In 2004, he starred in the youth comedy “ Top Score ”, where he played a school basketball star [1] . After a year and a half, the Cavaliers traded Darius to Portland . After moving to Portland, where he was again a player of the starting five, Miles began to play more actively in attack and, as a result, gain more points. During the 2004/2005 season, Miles clashed with the team's coach, Maurice Cheeks , for which he was deprived of a place in the starting five and was disqualified [2] . After the disastrous start of the season, Cheeks was fired for unsatisfactory results, and Miles again began to enter the site from the first minutes. On April 19, 2005, he set a personal record with 47 points in a game against the Denver Nuggets .

Miles started the season 2005/2006 well , gaining an average of 18 points in his first 15 games, but on December 2 he received a severe injury to his right knee, which required surgery and a long recovery. On April 9, 2006, Darius suffered a relapse of the injury, which is why in the seasons 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 he never went to the site. In March 2008, doctors issued a verdict that Miles injury was incompatible with professional basketball, and on April 14, 2008 the Trail Blazers terminated the contract with the basketball player [3] .

On August 22, 2008, Miles unexpectedly signed a non-guaranteed contract with the association's champions, the Boston Celtics Club. According to his assurances, he managed to overcome the injury and is going to reach the peak of a sports form by the end of the year [4] . However, on October 20, the Celtics terminated the contract with Miles in order to reduce their membership to the maximum allowed by the association of 15 people [5] .

On December 13, 2008, Miles signed a contract with the NBA club Memphis Grizzlies [6] . In total, Miles took part in 34 matches of the season as a reserve striker, gaining an average of 3.5 points per game. In the summer of 2009, the Grizzlies did not renew the contract with Miles, and he became a free agent . In 2010, Miles spent 7 pre-season games with Charlotte Bobcats , but failed to gain a foothold in the team and was expelled from the team before the season [7] .

Personal life

On August 3, 2011, Miles was arrested at St. Louis Airport for attempting to bring a loaded gun into an airplane. In 2009, he was already arrested for possession of marijuana and driving a car with invalid rights [8] .
