Biological Description
Representatives of the family are small trees, shrubs and creepers with simple, alternate, less often opposite whole or lobed leaves without stipules.
Icacin flowers are collected in complex, axillary, rarely apical, paniculate, spike-like or umbrella inflorescences. Some representatives have caulifloria .
Fruits are drupe-shaped, roundish or elliptical, single-seeded, with fleshy, fibrous or dry, woody pericarp .
