The Day of Tankmen is a Soviet, Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian professional holiday of tankers and tank builders, celebrated annually on the second Sunday of September .

Holiday History
Established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 11, 1946 to commemorate the great achievements of armored and mechanized troops in defeating the enemy during the Great Patriotic War , as well as for the merits of tank builders in equipping the Armed Forces with armored vehicles. Until 1980, it was celebrated on September 11 , because on this day in 1944, Soviet troops made great strides during the Eastern Carpathian operation . In 1980, the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR established the current date of the celebration. [2]
Professional holiday Day tanker is one of the most revered holidays in the army. And for some time (in the period from the 1940s to the 1950s) in large cities, the Day of the Tankman was even marked by the solemn promotion of tank columns in the city and fireworks .
