Description

Height 10-50 cm. Differs from Adonis spring fiery red, rarely orange flowers ; corolla petal is always at the base with a black spot. It blooms in late May and June. Flower formula :∗KfiveCfive-tenA∞G∞ {\ displaystyle \ ast K_ {5} \; C_ {5-10} \; A _ {\ infty} \; G _ {\ infty}}   [3] .

Distribution and Ecology

The natural habitat is North Africa , Western , Middle (Aral-Caspian (Lake Barsakelmes ), Tien Shan regions ( Almaty district), Chu-Ili mountains ) and Central Asia , Transcaucasia , China , the Indian subcontinent , Central , Eastern and Southern Europe .

In Russia and neighboring countries - in Ukraine ( Karpaty , Dnieper region), in the Crimea , Moldova , in the European part of Russia ( Trans-Volga , Black Sea, Lower Volga regions), in the south of Western Siberia (Verkhne-Tobolsky (south), Irtysh, Altai areas) in the North Caucasus .

It grows in solonetzic meadows , shrubbery , steppes , dry slopes, in the shade of rocks, like weed in crops and cattle stands in the mountains to an altitude of 2,000 m above sea ​​level .

Medicinal properties

For therapeutic purposes, stems , flowers, leaves are used . Carbohydrates and related compounds were found in the grass: adonite , cardenolides 0.14-0.2%, cymarin , carotene . Flowers contain carotenoid , astacin , fruits - alkaloids . Grass is used in homeopathy as a substitute for spring adonis; high cardiogonic activity gives reason to consider the raw materials promising for the preparation of therapeutic drugs .

A clinical trial has shown that summer adonis can be a substitute for spring adonis.

The plant has antibacterial properties, increases blood coagulation . Infusion or decoction of herbs in folk medicine is used for diseases of the kidneys and bladder . Indian medicine recommends infusion of flowers as a laxative and diuretic , for kidney stone disease .
