
Ghana or the Republic of Ghana is a state in West Africa . From the south it is washed by the waters of the Gulf of Guinea .
It covers an area of 238 540 km² .
The total length of the state border is 2093 km, from Burkina Faso - 548 km, Côte d'Ivoire - 668 km, Togo - 877 km.
Coastline: 539 km.

The climate is tropical.
The territory of the country is a plain dotted with remnant hills in some places. Further north of this plain is a wooded plateau. On the eastern outskirts of the country towers the mountains of Togo with the highest point of the country, Mount Afajato (885 m). To the north of Edzhura, above the Nampong ledge, the forest is gradually thinning and replaced by thickets of shrubs. Further north, along the Gumbag ledge, are open savannas with more fertile soils.
In 1961 - 1965 near the city of Akosombo ( Ghana ) at the confluence of the Black Volta and White Volta rivers in a narrow gorge, a hydroelectric power station was built. As a result, after filling, the Volta Reservoir occupies 3.6% of Ghana's area. It is the largest reservoir (about 8.5 thousand km²) in the world.
