Elizabeth Islands - An archipelago of small islands stretching southwest of the Cape Cod Peninsula . The islands are located northwest of the island of Martas Vinyard , separating the Vinyard Strait and Buzzards Bay .

The islands are named by the discoverers in honor of Queen Elizabeth the First.
The population of the islands is 86 inhabitants ( 2000 ).
Administratively, the islands belong to the Dews County of Massachusetts , making up the town of Gosnold . With the exception of two islands, the territory is privately owned by the Forbes family and free access is limited.
