Alfonso Vallejo ( Spanish: Alfonso Vallejo , 1943 , Santander , Spain ) - playwright , poet , artist and neurologist . The author of 33 plays and 20 collections of poems. Vallejo was awarded the Lope de Vega National Prize in 1976 for his play Ácido Sulfúrico (Sulfuric Acid), which was awarded the second prize back in 1975 ; in 1978 - the international Tirso de Molina Prize for his work “A tumba abierta”; in 1977 awarded the Fastenrat Prize of the Royal Academy of Spain.

Biography
Alfonso Vallejo, professor of medical pathology , is a practicing doctor at one of Madrid 's largest hospitals. In 1966, in Madrid, he graduated from Complutense University with a degree in medicine , after which he continued his medical practice in Spain , Great Britain , Germany , France and Denmark .
Early life and education
Alfonso Vallejo was born in 1943 in the city of Santander , Cantabria , Spain. From 1950 to 1961, Alfonso Vallejo studied at the French Lyceum in Madrid, receiving education in Spanish and French.
Having heard Baudelaire's “Travel Invitation” in one of the lessons quoted by his teacher, Monsieur Bihoreau, Alfonso realized that in this work you can find everything that a person lacks in life. From that moment on, his own life acquired a new meaning, which began to consist in reflecting actions and pictures through words, as well as in attempts to understand human nature.
In 1958, Alfonso Vallejo spent the summer in the village of Wushow Moore ( Durham , United Kingdom), in 1962 in Darlington (United Kingdom) and 1963 in London . He also lived for some time in France, Germany, Great Britain and Italy and is fluent in the languages of these countries. In addition, Alfonso Vallejo worked in various hospitals in France, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium and Denmark.
From 1961 to 1966, Alfonso Vallejo studied at the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid , where he received his diploma of higher education. In 1968, he successfully passed the exam (Foreign Medical Examination, ECFMG) in the medical specialty, which allowed him, as a foreigner, to work in the United States.
In 1970, Alfonso Vallejo completed his specialization in neurology and in 1977 defended his doctoral dissertation in medicine at the Autonomous University of Madrid .
Medical career
From 1971 to 1973, Professor Alfonso Vallejo collaborated in neurology with Dr. Porter at the Clinical Hospital in Madrid. In 1973, he was appointed head of the Department of Clinical Neurology at one of Madrid's leading hospitals.
From 1975 to 1985, Alfonso Vallejo worked as a professor of neurology at the University of Madrid Complutense (La Universidad Complutense de Madrid ). After passing the state exams in 1985 , Alfonso received the title of Professor of Medical Pathology . Vallejo still holds these positions in the aforementioned hospital.
During his stay abroad from 1966 to 1977, Alfonso Vallejo collaborated with a number of renowned specialists in Heidelberg , London, Amberes , Copenhagen , Berlin and Paris .
Artistic career
Alfonso Vallejo began writing poetry and plays in 1957 . In 1963, he directed the production of his first play entitled The Cycle (Cycle, 1961) at the French Institute (Madrid) in collaboration with French actors.
From 1962 to 1964, Vallejo was the director of the University Theater at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Complutense (La Universidad Complutense de Madrid), Madrid.

Alfonso Vallejo developed his artistic career through the continuous improvement of his skills in writing plays and poems, as well as creating paintings.
International Recognition
Some of Alfonso Vallejo's works have been translated and are currently being translated into English, French, German, Arabic, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Bulgarian.
He was awarded the Second Lope de Vega Prize in 1975 for his play "Acido Sulfúrico" ("Sulfuric Acid"), the National Lope de Vega Prize in 1976 for his play "El Desgüace", the International Tirso de Molina Prize in 1978 for the work "A tumba abierta" and the Fastenrath Prize of the Royal Academy of Spain in 1981 for the work "El Cero Transparente", which was used as the libretto in the production of the opera Luis de Pablo "Kiu" (1973). Alfonso Vallejo plays were staged in New York , Miami , Mexico and other countries of South America, as well as in Portugal, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and many other countries.
