Meskhi, Besarion Chokhoevich

Born on August 10, 1959 in the village of Chitatskari, Zugdidi District, Georgian SSR (now the Republic of Georgia).

In 1976 graduated from high school.

In 1977-1979. served in the air defense forces in the Volgograd region.

In 1980 entered the Rostov-on-Don Institute of Agricultural Engineering (RISHM, now - Don State Technical University , DSTU), which he graduated in 1985. specialty "Automation of agricultural production" (qualification - "electrical engineer").

Since 1982 combined study and work in the research department of RISHM.

In 1990-2002 - Vice-rector for administrative part, and since 2002. to 2007 - Vice-rector for administrative work and capital construction of DGTU.

Since 2007 - Professor, Head of the Department of Life Safety and Environmental Protection.

In 2007 elected rector of DSTU (on April 5, 2017, he was re-elected ^[1] to this post for a term of 5 years by a team of workers and students of DSTU).

Under the leadership of Besarion Meskhi, DGTU became a supporting university in the Rostov region. On November 20, 2015, the Academic Council of the Rostov State University of Civil Engineering (RGSU) voted to unite with the DSTU and to participate in the competition for the creation of a support multidisciplinary regional university. January 12, 2016 The RSSU officially became a structural unit of the DSTU and became known as the Academy of Construction and Architecture of the DSTU. January 25, 2016 The expert council of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation approved ^{[2] a} list of 11 universities, including DSTU, to receive state funding in the framework of the creation of supporting universities.
