Biography

He began his literary activity in 1904 in Odessa , where at that time he worked as a doctor. [3] He was friendly and corresponded with I. A. Bunin and V. V. Vorovskiy , with whom he became the editor of Odessa Review (1906–1917). [1] [4] [5] Bunin contributed to the transfer of Talnikov from the Odessa periodicals to the capital's press. [6] Published articles on theatrical themes and about modern Russian writers in magazines and newspapers “Responses of Modernity”, “Modern World”, “ European Herald ”, “ Russian Wealth ”, “Chronicle”, “Theater”, “Zvezda”, “ Modern Thought ”,“ Odessa News ”,“ Lights ”(Odessa). [7] In 1909–1912, he collaborated in the newspaper Bessarabskoe Obzor, published in Soroki (editor - IG Vaisman , 1885, Balta - 1938, Leningrad , shot; literary pseudonym - I. Grigoriev).

Since 1917, he was an employee of the editorial-cooperative publishing house and the Russian Bibliographic Institute of Brothers A. and I. Granat and Co., and then the secretary of the editorial staff of the New Moscow and Life magazines.

In the article “Literary notes” in the magazine “Krasnaya Novy”, more precisely in the 5th and 6th chapters, entitled “The regular dish of Mayakovsky” Talnikov criticized the essays of the poet “My discovery of America”, as well as his American poems [8] : “The gallop route ... the narration in his characteristic vulgar and cheeky tone of the“ newspaperman ”is what Selvinsky very sharply defined as“ rhymed shoe-dressing hack noodles ”and“ a drum with a pot a la Lef ”” [9] . Mayakovsky sent a protest to the editorial office of the journal: “He was amazed by the cheeky tone of the illiterate people writing in Krasnaya Novi under the pseudonym Talnikov,” announced the termination of cooperation with this edition and wrote in reply the poem “Galopshchik for Writers” [10] (1928) . In addition, Talnikov served as the prototype for the hero of the play “Bath” by Mayakovsky - a reporter for Momentalnikov.

During the 1920–1950s, it was published in the Modern Theater, Projector, Seals and Revolutions, Theater and Dramatic Art (Soviet Theater, Theater ), Soviet Art, and Literary Criticism. , “Literary Gazette”, “Questions of History”. In 1937, under his editorship, a new edition of the comedy by A. S. Griboedov “Woe from Wit” was published, and memoirs of the actor P. N. Orlenev (1931) were prepared for publication.

He lived on Nikitsky Boulevard, house number 12, apt. 13.
