Biography
Childhood
Carrie's father served in the U.S. Air Force and around the mid-80s, by virtue of his duties, he and his family moved to England . There, Carrie went to school in Leikenhaf, during which she starred in " Aliens ."
Alien Filming
James Cameron, having decided to shoot “Aliens” , ended up with a problem: the characters were Americans, which greatly complicated the search for actors, as the main requirement for candidates was the ability to speak with an American accent. Similarly, in relation to Newt, casting agents were told to look for candidates among American children living in England or those born in America. Carrie found casting agent from Pinewood Studios Sarah Jackson, who spotted her in her school cafeteria during lunch.
According to producer Gail Anne Heard , at first they tried to select the children for the role of Newt who already had experience on the stage and in advertising, but each time they went into conflict with their role, smiling while listening, which did not fit into this image. 9-year-old Carrie Henn, she said, was the only one who did not. Despite the fact that Carrie did not have any acting experience and did not even play in the school theater, her selection liked the selection committee. The final decision was that during the first meeting with Sigourney, Weaver Carrie immediately made close contact with her. Carrie's parents reluctantly agreed to her participation in the filming, fearing that she would get foul language from actors who played paratroopers. At their request, two more girls were hired, Louise Head and Kieran Sha, as Carrie's understudies for technically challenging scenes, although they were shot only in rare shots, since Carrie performed almost all the tricks herself. Parents were often present on the set, which Cameron did not like, because he believed that Carrie would not be able to reflect the necessary emotions of loneliness, since in the story Newt was in deep stress.
She spent a lot of time with Sigourney Weaver, because they participated in almost all the shooting of scenes with visual effects like a blue or projection screen. In the last weeks of filming (since the film was shot in chronological order), the main burden fell on their characters.
For the role of Newt, in 1987 Carrie received the Saturn Award in the nomination " Best Young Actor or Actress ." In the same year, she was nominated for the Young Actor Award [1] .
After
In 1992, Carrie, accompanied by Sigourney Weaver, attended the premiere of Alien 3 , where both later expressed discomfort as a reaction to a scene in which Newt's dead body was shown. After some time, they were also present together at the London opening of the Alien War attraction made from the film.
In 1994, Carrie graduated from high school in Atwater, California, and enrolled at Stanislaus University of California , Turlok, who graduated in June 2000 with a high degree in free science. At the same time, she worked at the Costco Wholesale Corporation in Mercedes.
In 2003, she was nominated for a DVD Exclusive Awards for her DVD commentary on Alien Quadrilogy.
On July 2, 2005, Carrie married her classmate Nathan Kutcher, who, like her, had a high degree, but in judicial justice. They have one child.
Carrie has her two-year-old brother Christopher, who starred with her in Aliens , where she played her screen brother (Newt Tim's brother), but his role was first reduced in the script and then completely cut out from the rental version. All that is known about Christopher is that in 2001 he worked as an executive officer. Along with him, Carrie gave a video interview to additional material Alien Quadrilogy.
Today, Carrie lives near Stanislaus County, where she works as a school teacher. Having now almost nothing to do with cinema (she only occasionally attends various events dedicated to the film), she still continues to correspond with Sigourney Weaver . In July 2016, she attended the San Diego Comic-Con International festival, where, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the release of the film, its cast was reassembled.
Although the role of Newt remained her only one and after she she did not play anywhere, even in school productions (and repeatedly stated that she was not going to return to work in the cinema), according to unconfirmed reports, Carrie was supposed to star in the film “Alien 5” Neil Blomkampa , where Newton's mother Anne Jordan would play in the scenes of memories, but the project was eventually canceled.
