Trichosanthus ( lat. Trichosanthes ) is a genus of grassy vines of the Pumpkin family ( Cucurbitaceae ), growing in a tropical and subtropical climate.

Stems, antennae and leaves of almost all species are eaten by local people as green vegetables . Types of Trichosanthes dioica and Trichosanthes cucumerina are cultivated for large edible, fleshy fruits , which are the most popular fruits in South and Southeast Asia . Types of Trichosanthes kirilowii and Trichosanthes rosthornii are used in traditional Chinese medicine for the preparation of medicines.
