History

The castle was founded at the end of the XIII - beginning of the XIV century by Benes from Waldstein and Detenitz (1269–1318) [1] [2] , who rebuilt the original wooden fortress into a stone castle in the Gothic style . The first written mention of the castle dates back to 1404 [3] .

In 1503, the castle of Detenice became the property of the Krzyniecki clan. Bohuslav Krzyński from Ronov in 1587 rebuilt the castle in the Renaissance style. In 1619, his son, Jiri Krzyński from Ronov, erected a large castle tower.

King Ferdinand II confiscated the castle and the estate of the Krzyniecki and handed it over to the Waldstein . Then the castle was bought by Christian Klam-Gallas, who rebuilt it in the style of “later baroque” .

At the beginning of the 19th century, the son of the Austrian baron and diplomat Wisserberg bequeathed the estate to the Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta . The order sold the castle in 1903 to the Jewish industrial tycoon Adolf Bloch, whose son lost the entire estate on the exchange.

In 1927, the building was bought and restored by the civil engineer Rzhegak, after which part of the castle was open to the public. In 1948, the castle was nationalized.

Currently, the estate belongs to the Ondrachkov family. Since 2000, the castle has been open to visitors.
