Biography
Arkady Boytsov was born on March 17, 1923 in the city of Podolsk, Moscow Region, in a family of an employee. Russian. After receiving secondary education, he studied at the leather and shoe college in Moscow .
In March 1941 he graduated from the flying club and entered the Chernigov Military Aviation Pilot School, which he graduated in June 1942 and was sent to the 11th Air Defense IAP (318th IAD). During the Great Patriotic War, he made 15 sorties to cover railway junctions, transportations, and escort especially important letter trains.
After the end of the war he continued to serve as part of the 11th IAP Air Defense. At the beginning of 1946 he was sent by the squadron commander to the 16th IAP Air Defense, where he served until 1954. In 1951 he received the title of " Military Pilot of the 1st class ."
In January 1952, as part of the 16th IAP Air Defense (97th IAD Air Defense), he went on a government mission to the PRC, took part in providing international assistance to the peoples of the PRC and North Korea during the war on the Korean Peninsula as deputy squadron commander for political affairs. During the period from January 21 to August 28, 1952 he made 55 sorties, conducted more than 30 air battles, in which he personally shot down 6 enemy aircraft (4 F-86 and 2 F-84) and shot down 2 more F-86s.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 14, 1953, for the courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union (medal No. 10861).
After returning from a business trip to the Soviet Union, he continued his service in the Air Force. In 1958 he graduated from the Air Force Academy [1] . Between 1958 and 1962 he served in the 105th aviation division of fighter-bombers as commander of the 296th air regiment and deputy division commander. In 1966 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff. In 1968 he was appointed commander of the air division, and from September 14, 1971 - deputy commander of the Air Force of the Volga Military District.
Since October 25, 1976, Major General Aviation A.S. Boytsov in stock. During his service in aviation he mastered 20 types of domestic and foreign aircraft (U-2, UTI-4, I-15bis, I-16, MiG-3, R-40 “Kittyhawk”, “Spitfire” LF9E, Yak-15, MiG -15, MiG-17, MiG-19, MiG-21, Il-14, An-26, Mi-8 and others), flew over them for more than 2000 hours.
He lived and worked in Kuibyshev . Died June 15, 2000 . He was buried in Samara at the Rubizhny cemetery .

Perpetuation of memory
On May 5, 2011 in Samara, on the building of the Municipal School No. 69, a memorial plaque was opened [2] . Earlier in this house was the Kuibyshev School of Pilots and Cosmonauts, whose director was Boytsov [3] .
