Story
James Braddock ’s successful boxer career seems to be drawing to a close: a series of injuries prevent him from returning to the ring. The Great Depression came, all the savings were lost, and he had to take up any work to feed his family, and even starve. But in the port it is not always possible to get it. One day he was offered to enter the ring for little money, but the fight was stopped, as both boxers were very exhausted, and Braddock also broke his arm. Braddock is disqualified and promised not to be allowed into the ring anymore. But fate gave him a second chance: at the last minute he replaces another boxer and fights with a contender for the world title. Braddock wins the third round, which becomes a sensation. He wins one after another several more fights, and on June 13, 1935 he will have to fight with the current world champion Max Baer . Rem is almost 4 years younger, taller. Bets are accepted with a coefficient of 10 to 1. In addition, Baer killed two opponents in the ring.
Wife dissuades him from the fight, but Braddock is still going to enter the ring. The press writes about Cinderella-boxer, who, from the lines for free soup, suddenly fell into a duel for the belt of the world champion. Braddock becomes a symbol of all the poor and hopeless. For his victory, ordinary people all over New Jersey pray, where Bradock comes from. During a fierce 15-round battle, Braddock manages to break the enemy’s resistance and win on points.
