- May 16, 1803 - Formed in Vilkomir of the Kovno province by Major General Lachern von Herzfeld as Courland Dragoon Regiment, consisting of 5 squadrons. Formed from squadrons of Moscow, Kazan, Riga and Kharkov dragoon regiments and recruit.
- 1805-1807 - Participated in the Napoleonic Wars (battles at Morungen and Preisisch-Eylau).
- April 1808 - Awarded the 16th St. George trumpets for honoring the 1807 campaign.
- 1812 - Participated in World War II as part of the 1st Brigade of the 3rd Cavalry Corps of the 1st Western Army (including in the Battle of Borodino).
- December 17, 1803 - A reserve half squadron was established.
- 1813-1814 - Participated in foreign campaigns of the Russian army.
- October 1827 - Courland Lancers Regiment.
- 1828-1829 - Participated in the Russian-Turkish war as part of the Wittgenstein army (including in the siege of Silistra).
