Nikolai was born on March 14, 1917 in Moscow. After graduation, he worked at the Neftegaz plant.

The path of Nikolai Korolev to big sport began in 1933 under the leadership of Ivan Stepanovich Bogaev - one of the founders of Soviet boxing. Soon, Nikolai entered the College of Physical Culture at the Stalin Park of Culture and Rest and began to train with Konstantin Gradopolov , and then with Arkady Georgievich Kharlampiev [1] .

On October 22, 1936, in Moscow, in the circus building on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, the title of absolute boxing champion of the USSR was first played. The opponent of Korolev was a very strong and experienced Viktor Mikhailov . After spending 6 rounds of 3 minutes, Nikolai became the first glove of the Soviet Union. In 1944, Korolev again entered the ring. At the USSR Championship in 1944 he won a silver medal, losing to Andro Navasardov in the final. In the same 1944, in a difficult duel with Evgeny Ogurenkov, he returned the title of absolute champion of the USSR , and in 1945 he repeated this achievement . In 1946, N.F.
