Physical Characteristics
A star is approximately 440 light-years distant from Earth . Merope is a white-blue subgiant of spectral class B with a visible magnitude of +4.14. The brightness of the star is 630 times greater than that of the Sun , and the surface temperature is 14,000 Β° Kelvin (13,730 Β° Celsius ). The mass of Meropa is about 4.5 solar, the radius is more than 4 times. Merope is classified as a variable star Ξ² Cepheus , its brightness changes by 0.01 m . Meropa is located in the Meropa Nebula (NGC 1435) .
Name Origin
Meropa - in Greek mythology, one of the galaxies . Daughter of Atlanta and the Pleions . The only pleiad that married a mortal was the Corinthian king Sisyphus , who gave birth to his son Glaucus .
