Biography
Lucas Cranach the Younger was born on October 4, 1515 in Wittenberg in the family of the German painter and graphic artist of the Renaissance, Lucas Cranach the Elder . His older brother Hans Cranach also became an artist. They worked together in the father’s workshop and were his students. Lucas the Younger inherited the workshop after the death of his father. His works are performed mainly in the genre of portraiture or mythical scenes.
His son, Augustine Cranach, also became an artist.
Memory
At the end of 2013, the authorities of the city of Wittenberg established the Cranach the Younger International Prize called Cranach 2.0 [1] .
