Activities

PJSC "Ukrhydroenergo" is a successful Ukrainian company with a vibrant business reputation, operating powerful hydroelectric power stations and PSPPs, developing domestic hydropower and making a significant contribution to ensuring energy security and independence of Ukraine.

The principle of operation of a hydropower plant is quite simple: by building an artificial dam on the river (hydropower plant), or by creating an artificial reservoir (PSP) next to it, the necessary pressure of water is supplied to the equipment, converting the kinetic energy of the flow into electrical energy.

Falling from a great height through water conduits, or under the pressure of the natural flow of the river, the water transfers its kinetic energy to the turbine blades, and, in turn, transfers torque to the hydraulic units located in the turbine room of the hydroelectric power station. And these complex devices turn mechanical energy into electrical energy, which, through an extensive network of power lines, goes directly to consumers.

One of the main tasks is to ensure the stability and reliability of the combined energy network of Ukraine and generating enterprises. In this aspect, Ukrhydroenergo plays an important role. Hydroelectric power plants usually operate at peak load conditions and help maintain a stable frequency in the network and not stop the operation of thermal and nuclear power plants.

INDICATORS FOR 2017: the actual volume of electricity production by Ukrhydroenergo stations amounted to 9,806.015 million kWh of electricity. The most produced were the Dnieper Hydroelectric Power Station (2938 million kWh), the Dniester PSPP (1229 million kWh) and the Kremenchug Hydroelectric Power Plant (1178 million kWh).
