Explanation of the table
- City - a city that is served by the airport.
- FAA code - airport code assigned by the Federal Aviation Administration .
- IATA code - IATA airport code . If the IATA code does not match the FAA code of the airport, it is in bold.
- ICAO code - ICAO airport code .
- Airport - the official name of the airport.
- Cat. (category) is one of the four airport categories defined by the FAA based on the NPIAS ( National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems ) plan published in September 2016:
- PS : (Commercial Service - Primary) - an airport that has a commercial passenger traffic of more than 10,000 people per year. Each PS airport is divided into 4 types - hub :
- L : (Large hub) - the airport, which accounts for at least 1% of the total passenger traffic in the United States.
- M : (Medium hub) - an airport, which accounts for between 0.25% and 1% of the total passenger traffic.
- S : (Small hub) - the airport, which accounts for from 0.05% to 0.25% of the total passenger traffic.
- N : (Nonhub) - an airport, which accounts for less than 0.05% of the total passenger traffic, but more than 10,000 passengers annually.
- CS : (Commercial Service - Nonprimary) - an airport that has a commercial passenger traffic of at least 2,500 people per year.
- RL : (Reliever) - general aviation airports located in major cities. They have similarities with airports category GA . In addition to the basing of private aviation, airports are used to relieve large airports from small commercial passenger aircraft.
- GA : (General Aviation) - general aviation airports. The airport should be based not less than 10 aircraft, but serviced by no more than 2500 passengers per year. This means that most aircraft are owned and used by private individuals, and there is no commercial or minor transportation.
- PS : (Commercial Service - Primary) - an airport that has a commercial passenger traffic of more than 10,000 people per year. Each PS airport is divided into 4 types - hub :
- Pass / year - commercial passenger traffic for the 2016 calendar year (according to the FAA report published in October 2017).
