Hirsch, Judd

Judd Hirsch ( born Judd Hirsch ; born March 15, 1935 , New York ) is an American actor. Hirsch is best known for his long career in television, where he played leading roles in the sitcom Taxi (1978–83) and Dear John (1988–92). At the late stage of his career, he took on the supporting roles in 4isla (2005-10) and Eternity (2014-2015).

Hirsch received two Emmy and Golden Globe awards for his work in television comedies, as well as two Tony , for his performances in Broadway plays [4] . He was also nominated for an Oscar for a supporting role in the movie Ordinary People (1980) [4] .

Judd Hirsch was born into a Jewish family: his father is Joseph Sidney Hirsch, his mother is Sally Hirsch (nee Kitsis). Judd has a brother named Roland Hirsch. He grew up in Brooklyn , studied physics at a city school in New York . [5] In 1952 he graduated from college and joined the US Army . Prior to the theater, he worked as an engineer. [6]

Career

The actor first appeared on the scene in 1962, he began acting in films since 1971. Best known for her role in the sitcom Taxi , where he played with Christopher Lloyd , Danny de Vito , Andy Kaufman . He starred in films such as " Running in Place " by Sidney Lumet , " Independence Day " by Roland Emmerich , and " Mind Games " by Ron Howard . From 2005 to 2010, he played one of the main roles in the series " 4isla ."

In 2016, Hirsch appeared in the comedy television series The Big Bang Theory as Leonard's father.

Personal life

Hirsch was twice married. [4] The first time - in 1956-1967, the second time he married in 1992 to Bonnie Chalkin. He has three children - Alexander, Montana Eve and London. He now lives in New York.
