Biography
David Abashidze was born on May 1, 1924 in Tiflis (now Tbilisi ).
In 1949 he graduated from the Tbilisi Theater Institute and began a creative career at the Shota Rustaveli Theater - but due to the fact that he starred in many films, he was forced to leave the stage ( 1956 ). Since 1953 - actor of the film studio " Georgia-Film "; actively starred in films of various genres, showing the talent of a characteristic actor. Member of the CPSU since 1960 [1] .

- Award for best actor in the film festival of the republics of Transcaucasia and Ukraine (for the film "The Great Green Valley ");
- Award for best performance of the male role of the IV All-Union Film Festival in Minsk ( 1970 - for participation in the film “The Light of Our Windows ”)
- Award for best performance of the male role of the IV International Film Festival in Tehran (1975) - for participation in the film " The First Swallow "
- Award for best performance of the male role of IX All-Union Film Festival in Frunze (1976) - for participation in the film " The First Swallow ".
- Nika Award for Best Directorial Work (1990) - for the film Ashik-Kerib
