Biography
The son of the Brazilian writer Enrique Coelho Neto and Dona Linda, Preguigno was born on February 8, 1905 in Rio de Janeiro . Throughout his career, from his youth he played for Fluminense and scored 184 goals for the club. He not only played football, he played volleyball , basketball , water polo , field hockey , swimming, jumping from the tower and other sports. In 1952, he received the title of "Great Honored Athlete" ( port. Grande Benemérito Atleta ).
As part of the Brazilian national team, he participated in the first World Cup and was the first captain of the Brazilian national team. He is also the author of the first goal of the Brazilians at the world championships, and in general for both matches of the Brazilians, he scored 3 goals: one for Yugoslavia and two for Bolivia .
He died at the age of 74 on October 1, 1979. In his honor, Fluminense installed a statue, and the Brazilian television Channel 100 dedicated a television program to his life.
