Streets and thoroughfares of Maryina Grove. History
The area of Maryina Roshcha at the time of construction was divided by four numbered longitudinal streets and 17 also numbered transverse passages. The numbering system for the driveway evolved gradually. In the 19th century, they received the names of the 1st-7th passages that were “to the railroad”, and the 1st-7th passages “beyond the railroad”, and the passage located along the railway. The village was called Dorozhny or Brest (the line led to Brest, now Belorussky, station). It was obvious the inconvenience of the applied system, which constantly led to misunderstandings. Therefore, in 1929, a unified numbering system from 1st to 15th passage was adopted. In 1930, the 16th and 17th driveways were added to them. With subsequent plans, 1st street, 7th, 16th driveways were lost.
