History
Under the Qin empire, when the first centralized empire in China’s history was created, and the country was divided into Xian and Jung districts, the main part of the modern city district of Xinyang was part of Jiujiang District (九江 郡), which included five counties: Yulou (雩 娄 县), Xiyan (西 阳县), Zisi (期 思 县), Xixian (息 县) and Chengyang (城 阳县). Under the Han empire, Xixian County was renamed Xinxi (新 息 县), and five more counties became part of Jiujiang District: Anchang (安 昌 县), Yiyang (弋阳 县), Dixian (轪 县), Menxian (黾 县) and Zhongyu (钟 武 县). Under the Eastern Han Empire, Xinxi, Yiyang, Yulou, Liaoxian (蓼 县) and Dixian counties were transformed into specific holdings (侯 国), Zhongyu county was converted into specific ownership of Pinchun (平 春 侯 国), Baosin's specific holding was also created褒 信 侯 国). Subsequently, the frontiers again gradually became counties, and the county of Yiyang (义 阳县) appeared.
In the era of the Three Kingdoms and under the empire, Eastern Jin territory of the modern urban district was divided between the districts of Yiyang (弋阳 郡) and Yiyang (义 阳 郡). Under the Eastern Jin Empire, the authorities of Yuzhou Province (豫州) settled in Siyan.
Under the Tang Empire, the territory of the modern urban district was divided between the regions of Shenzhou (申 州) and Guangzhou (光州) of Huainan Province (淮南 道).
After the foundation of the Song Empire, the territory of the modern urban district was divided between Yiyang (义 阳 州) and Guangzhou provinces. Due to the practice of taboo names , due to the fact that the hieroglyph “i” was in the personal name of the founder of the dynasty Zhao Kuangyi , he was replaced by a similar hieroglyph “blue”, with the result that the Yiyang area was renamed Xinyan (信阳 州); the Xinyang area included the modern districts of the city subordination of the Xinyang city district and Loshan district, the Guangzhou area included the Gushi, Dincheng (定 城县), Guangshan and Xianju counties (仙居 县, in the Southern Song epoch, was attached to the Guangshan county).
After the Mongol conquest, the Xinyang Military District (信阳 军) was established, which in 1277 was raised to the Xinyansky Council (信阳 府), but the following year it again became a province.
In the Qing Empire, the Guangzhou region was raised in 1724 in status to "directly controlled" (that is, it began to submit directly to the provincial government, bypassing the intermediate level in the form of governing). After the Xinhai Revolution , administrative reform was carried out in China, and the regions were abolished, and in 1913, Xinyang and Huanchuan counties, respectively, were formed in areas previously directly controlled by the authorities of the Xinyang and Guangzhou regions.
In 1949, the Xinyang Special District (区 区 区区) was created, which included the cities of Xinyang and Zhumadian, and 8 more districts, and the Huangchuan Special District (区 区 区), which included 7 districts. In 1952, the Huanchuan Special District was annexed to the Xinyang Special District. In 1965, a separate Zhumadian Special District (驻马店 专区) was formed, and 1 city and 9 counties remained in the Xinyang Special District. In 1970, the Xinyang Special District was renamed Xinyang County (信阳 地区).
In 1998, by decree of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Xinyang County, Xinyang County and Xinyang City were disbanded, and Xingyan District was formed; The territory of the former city of Xinyang and Xinyang County became areas of Pingqiao and Shihe in its composition.
In 2011, Gushi County passed into direct subordination to the authorities of Henan Province, who delegated its management to the authorities of the Xinyang city district. From January 1, 2014, Gushi County began to report directly to the authorities of Henan Province.
