Yurevich, Vladimir Nikolaevich

Vladimir Nikolaevich Yurevich ( February 15, 1869 , Petersburg - November 20, 1907 , Kiev ) - Russian chess player and writer. Editor of the chess department of the St. Petersburg newspaper "News" ( 1889 - 1904 ), then the magazine "Picturesque Review". At the end of 1880 he successfully played in tournaments of the St. Petersburg society of chess game lovers. Participant of the 3rd All-Russian tournament ( 1903 ) - 3rd place (he won the game against tournament winner M. Chigorin ). During the Revolution of 1905 - 1907 he led active revolutionary propaganda. He was sentenced to imprisonment, died in prison.
