Biography

Youth

In 1952, the family emigrated to Argentina and settled in the city of Tres Arroyo when Domingo Menne was five years old. In 1965, after graduating from school, Domingo Menna went to Cordoba to study medicine , anda year later, he joined the newly created Revolutionary Workers Party .

In politics

In the same year, he proved himself to be a good student organizer and creator of the Spartak student union, which fought against censorship and pressure on universities from the dictatorial regime of Ongania . He was arrested on August 18, 1966 while trying to release his previously arrested comrades from the university hospital.

September 7, participates in the university council, where a decision is made to confront the police . Five days later, at one of these protests, a student of Santiago Pampillon will be killed, and other participants in the demonstration will be repressed.

In February 1968, Domingo Menna was elected a delegate to the IV Congress of the Revolutionary Workers Party , where he supported the proposal of Mario Roberto Santucho to launch an armed struggle against the junta . Later, in September, Menna created the syndicated organization May 1st Group ( Spanish: Agrupación Primero de Mayo ).

Thus, he became one of the leaders of the labor movement in the country and took an active part in the uprising in Cordoba on May 29, 1969. After these events, Domingo Menna joined the first partisan party of the RPT , led by a member of the party’s political bureau, Carlos Herman , Commando im. May 29 and Che Guevara ”( Spanish: Comando 29 de Mayo y Che Guevara ).

Guerrilla Warfare

In 1970, even before internal disagreements in the party, Roberto Santucho joined the Leninist tendency at the Fifth RPT Congress, where the Revolutionary Army of the People was established.

In January 1971 he was arrested in Cordoba and kept there until April 1972 , when, together with other captured partisans, he was not transferred to a high security prison Rawson . From where, together with Santucho, Gorriaran Merlot and the partisans from the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the " Monteros ", he escapes on August 15, 1972. After several days spent in Chile , he leaves for Cuba .

He returned to the country after being elected to the Central Committee and the Politburo of the RPT and immediately proceeded to reorganize the party. In May 1973, along with Agustin Tosco and Osvaldo Dorticos, he participated in events dedicated to the anniversary of the Cordoban uprising .

At the same time, he was working on the organization of the Anti-Imperialist Front for Socialism ( Spanish: Frente Antiimperialista y por el Socialismo ) and, in 1974, in Villa Constitucion led the activities of the Syndicalist Front ( Spanish Frente Sindical ).

Doom

In early 1976, Domingo Menna moved to Buenos Aires , like most of the party’s national leadership, in order to avoid the repression launched in 1975 against the RPT and the Russian Academy of Sciences . There he stayed with his comrade Anna Maria Lansillotta in the Villa Martelli area , where Roberto Santucho and Benito Urteagu were to wait .

On July 19, 1976 , Menna was captured by the military at the Rivadavia railway station. He was immediately taken to Campo de Mayo , where he was brutally tortured for several months before being killed. On the same day his pregnant girlfriend was also captured.

According to a witness who survived the torture, Menna was severely crippled by the sophisticated bullying of the executioners, but continued to support other prisoners with stories of the Vietnam War .

The younger sister of Domingo, Menna Raquel, also a member of the Revolutionary Workers Party, was captured by the military in 1977.
