History

The theater was founded in 1987. Its creator and artistic director is Vyacheslav Spesivtsev , who during his life created three theaters: the Gaidar Studio in Tekstilshchiki, the Youth Theater Studio on Krasnaya Presnya and the Moscow Experimental Theater. He is called the teacher Natalya Schukina , Gennady Khazanov and Yuri Kuklachev , Vladimir Mirzoev and Andrei Lyubimov [1] . And the Nobel laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez , who once attended a rehearsal of Spesivtsev’s play “Autumn of the Patriarch”, allowed the director to put all his novels on the stage: “I allow Vyacheslav Spesivtsev to do anything with my works, but only to him, in his theater” [ 1] .

Spesivtsev also collaborated with other modern classic writers: Valentin Rasputin , Vasily Shukshin , Boris Vasiliev , Chingiz Aitmatov , Jorge Amadou , Venedikt Erofeev .

The experimentalism of the theater is expressed in the fact that representatives of different age categories are involved in the performances: not only professional actors, but also students of theatrical universities of Russia and children. The theater has studios in which children and teenagers from 8-18 years old are taught acting, stage movement, vocals, stage speech, fencing, choreography, acrobatics.

The repertoire of performances includes works on acute social topics: on the problems of child crime, drug addiction, prostitution, and homelessness. According to Vyacheslav Spesivtsev, the theater should reflect today's life.

The theater’s repertoire also includes performances based on classical (Romeo and Juliet by W. Shakespeare, Pit by A. I. Kuprin, Evil Spirit by M. Yu. Lermontov, War and Peace by L. Tolstoy) and contemporary (“A Seagull named Jonathan Livingston” by Richard Bach, “Love in Italian” by Eduardo De Filippo, “Time to Love” and “My Favorite Game” by V. Spesivtsev)).

To date, several theatrical projects have been created at the Moscow Youth Theater, aimed primarily at children and young people: "Tales of the World", "Bible for Children", "Classics in the Classroom". Each project is unique in its idea, focus and carries an educational function.
