Hot-Choice (Eng., " Hot choice ") - the principle that operates when choosing a code of a long- distance operator (MG) and international (MN) outgoing telephone communication by dialing an operator code during each call.
An alternative for hot choice is pre-select , when the subscriber pre-selects one operator for all outgoing calls.
Some telephone companies have independently decided that a subscriber who wishes to be able to choose an operator when calling to other cities and countries should personally appear at the telephone center and apply for it. In other cases, the subscriber’s verbal consent is sufficient for an advertising call from a long-distance operator.
In Russia, according to the Law “On Communications”, a subscriber can choose a long-distance communication operator either in hot-choice mode or in pre-select mode. From 2008 in Russia it will be possible to “combine” the modes, that is, despite the choice of the operator made in the pre-select mode, for individual calls use the hot-choice mode, choosing other operators.
