Untoten (Rus. Undead , also the wrong versions of the Undead and Immortals ) is a German group from Berlin , starting with the grindcore , who for several years passed to darkwave . It is one of the brightest Gothic groups in the modern German dark scene. The most significant works for the darkwave style are Vampire Book and The Look of Blasphemie , and for gothic metal - Grabsteinland tetralogy. Later works ( Die Blutgräfin , Die Nonnen von Loudun , Die Hexe ) are epic conceptual gothic operas with a great influence of neoclassicism.

Biography
In 1994, the first demo of ZiZa appeared, which was soon renamed Untoten. After the release of two demos, in 1996 David A. Line and Greta Chatlosh created their debut album Hab keine Angst Veluzifer . This conceptual opus tells about the fate of street children in Berlin at that time. Starting from the next Kiss of Death album, Untoten's sound has shifted towards a strange, kind of sick and cold darkwave. On these discs ( Kiss of Death , Nekropolis , Schwarze Messe , Vampire Book and Look of Blasphemie ) Untoten flirt with Satanic aesthetics. However, their electronic side project Soko Friedhof (founded after the completion of their Engelwerk project), the name of which many Germans associate with the famous Satanic murder in the city of Witten, went even further in this direction. In 2003 Untoten's finest hour came - the first part of the Grabsteinland trilogy ( Grabsteinland 1 album - Durch den Kristallwald ) was released. The disc was a combination of neoclassical darkwave in mystical colors and the darkest gothic metal since the album Inferno ( Lacrimosa ). The story of the fictional magical land of tombstones, existing parallel to modern Berlin, shocked the entire then Gothic scene, which was expecting another cold dark wave from Untoten. The second part ( Grabsteinland 2 - Herrschaft der Vampire ) caused even greater success, the orchestra parts became even richer and richer, and the hit Raben came out as a separate single. In the final part of the trilogy ( Grabsteinland 3 - Herz der Finsternis ), gothic metal sounds at its full potential, making this album the hardest in Untoten history. The following year, the double concept album Die Blutgräfin about Countess Elizabeth Bathory is released , marking the group's return to darkwave, but not electronic, as before, but completely neoclassical. The Blood Countess became the third Gothic opera after Elodia ( Lacrimosa ) and Tineoidea ( Samsas Traum ). In terms of concept, the album resembles Schlafende Hunde ( Janus ), Biesblut ( Stillste Stund ) and a.Ura und das Schnecken.Haus ( Samsas Traum ). Untoten are still faithful to the same direction.

David A. Line is also the author of the books Sonic Malade , Schwarze Messe , Totenkopfmausgedicht and Schwarze Messe II . Perhaps his novel Grabsteinland will also be published. In addition, Untoten is the leader of the projects Soko Friedhof (at first, together with Demian Hildebrant), Candy's trash till death , Engelwerk , Paloma im Blute , as well as the producer of the project Demian Hildebrant Festival der Geisteskranken . Greta Chatlosh participates as a vocalist in all projects of David A. Line, and also released an album of her artworks Wölfe in Berlin and wrote an autobiographical novel Ein schwarzer Engel aus Berlin . In March 2009, the first Budapest album of her solo project Greta Ida is expected, recorded partially in Budapest, partially in Berlin, under the direction of David A. Line. In the solo project you can hear the Hungarian national motives, since Greta is ethnically Hungarian.
